Default Kumho Ecsta XS

So I was browsing the Tire Rack website and happened to see a new set of tires added under Kumho's Extreme Performance Summer Tires. They are the Ecsta XS. Treadwear is supposedly softer than the MX (180 vs 220) and the tread design is asymmetric like the Azenis RT-615 and Potenza RE070. They look like a good set of tires to try for next summer!

My car still has stock AP1 rims, and they only have 215/45/16 and 225/50/16 sizes in stock. I was wondering if the 215/45's will fit on the front AP1 rims?

They are taking the place of the MX. We have not had a chance to test them yet. I is going to be spring next yeat before we drive them. I can say that they are going to be better than the MX so for the money they would be a very good choice.
If I can help let me know.

Jim, is this 215 section width correct (8.4 perhaps)? I see the 225 matches the S-02 at 9.2, can we assume a similar tread width? I am hoping this may turn out to me the tighter stagger for the AP1 I have been after.

clag, I think what you're looking for is a wider width in the rear as opposed to the front, that is if you're looking for the similar stagger that is found with the SO-2's.

Seeing as how we're going to have a wider front and about the same width in the rear compared to another tire like the MX's, we would have more oversteer.

I agree completely, which is why I think this chart is wrong. You have a 225 rear with a 9.2 section width and a 215 front with a 9.4?!? I think it is likely a 8.4. A 215 front with a 225 rear seems like an ideal stagger compared to the 205/225 stagger of the S-02 (which has been shown to be actually closer to a 205/245 stagger).

Will the 265/45-16 be available anytime soon through TireRack?

Any company literature on how they compare to other tires--like the azenis 615-rt? are they in the same league?

How do these tires compared to the Dunlop Direzza z1 star spec and Sumitomo's HTR-Z III?
