Wink Kumho V700-A

Hey guys . I ll be turbocharging my car in a couple of weeks and i have a tire question .

I m thinking about buying Kumho V700-A (245/40/17) for the rears to get great traction , What do you think ?
Link to tire: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...odel=ECSTA+V700

-My car is AP2 and daily driven.
-I dont drive the car in rain.
-The power will the around 350~ rwhp

And how is the treadlife ? Can i get 10,000 miles out of them ?

Thanks

That is an r-comp that will heat cycle out long before you get 5000 miles on them. I have run Victoracers and RA-1s as street tires but the V700 is not going to be a good choice for the street.

i am curious what is the maximum range one could drive on R compounds before they would begin to heatcycle badly? (ie 50-70mph on the highway)

Rubber molecule bonds change with heat. The more times the the tires are cycled through heating and cooling, the more the bonds change.

Eventually, the bonds that make the rubber sticky degrade and the rubber becomes hard. R-compound tires suffer from heat cycling more severly than street tires.

You may also hear about the initial heat cycle for r-comps...the inital heat cycle is the most crucial, and if done properly, it can help the tires last longer and be more sticky.
