Default Looking to replace OEM tyres

Looking for suggestions on which brand and type of tires I should get. Not looking for anything crazy but just for some spirited driving. Having skimmed through the stickied thread above, I would like to run 245/45/16

FORGET the stickie, it is obsolete and should go bye-bye.

225/50-16 rears are just fine, and if you *do* insist on 245/45-16 size, you're guaranteed NOT to have the best-gripping tires for the S.

Stock sizes are pretty much the only way to go for the AP1: 205/55-16 F, 225/50-16 R.

Regarding tire selection, it depends on what your wants/needs are.

Max dry grip?
Max wet/dry grip?
Possibility of driving in snow/ice/cold temps?
If so, possibility of running different wheels/tires in Winter?
Longevity a factor?
Price a factor?
Might you be tracking the car?

Thanks for your response.

Car will not see anything but sunshine. As for cost, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. Would like to spend somewhere in the 500-600 area, whatever I can get for that will suffice i think. Don't want to replace them every 10k miles though. I have a beater for the winter so car would be store in my garage for the winter months. Won't be tracking the car but some spirited driving is more than likely.

Thanks

I'd go with Dunlop Star Specs. Fantastic dry grip, phenomenal wet grip, not too much $$$ ($109/$119 at Tire Rack).

In fact I *did* go with Dunlop Star Specs! For the non-Winter months anyway...

Any experience with the sponsors on the forum giving discounts for more than 1 set of tyres? Need some all seasons for my beater.

Thanks

+1 on the Star Specs. These tires are great for the price and the wet traction is not too shabby. I'm on my 3rd set and I haven't looked back.
