Default A lot of wheel weights used for balancing

Had some new tires mounted and balanced yesterday on my front wheels. Afterwards I noticed there were quite a few weights used on one of the wheels. Probably a 5 inch long band of the smaller weights, on the outboard side of the wheel(behind the spokes). Was just wondering if this is sometimes normal? The other wheel has quite a few weights, but not as long of a band as the other.

The wheels are Advan RSs 17x9, and the tires are new RE11 245/40s. The wheels are in great shape, so I know it can't be from a bent wheel or anything. Should I bring the wheels back and have them balanced again? The car drives very smooth down the road. No vibrations or anything.

Thanks for any help!

Where is the yellow dot on the tire in relation to the valve stem?

I know most shops don't do this, but here's yokohama tire's match-mounting procedure.

The easiest thing to check is that the yellow dot is lined up with the valve stem, AKA the lightest part of the tire is matched to the heaviest part of the wheel. This would minimize the amount of weights needed.

In reality most tire shops just mount them whichever way and then compensate by using weights.

Great info, thanks. I'll check later, but I doubt they lined up the yellow marks.

The yellow dots are definitely lined up with the valve stems. One of them is close though. But, you can tell that the yellow dot represents the lighter side of the tire, cause that's the spot where all the weights are.
