Default lowering springs or cut?

i am about to purchase an s2k and want to lower it right away while i save up for tein coilovers. would it be better to buy lowering springs like tein s techs or esperiler (sp) or would it be possible to just cut a coil or two off the stock springs to save money untill i get full coilovers? I will have it this way for around 2-3 months....thanks!

Wow!!! Cutting springs....I haven't heard of that practice since the mini-trucking days of the late 80's early 90's.

Seriously! There are so many reasons not to, from unpredictable handling from increased spring rates, to... well isn't that enough? It's a good way to get yourself into trouble, especially in a car you're not familiar with.

Springs are cheap anyway, and you can always sell them and recoup much of your cost. But would it really kill you to be at stock height for 2 months? It would give you an opportunity to base your opinions of the car's handling on stock. It's even more important when you're dealing with coilovers, because there are so many variables. There are a few you can tweak the handling, but there are a thousand ways you can screw it up.

don't buy the s2k if you gonna cut the springs I still wouldn't even recommend it for your beater car......just go on ebay buy a set of tein or something for $125 shipped and save up for something better........
