Default Lug Nuts

Hello everyone, i just got a set of 18" volk gt-n's. They are gunmetal with a polished lip. My car is a MY02, NFR, lowered with a j's front bumper. Im wondering what kind/color lug nuts to get. I want something that is a lock, because i hate thieves. Ive been reading that the Rays are no good, due to fading/stripping, and i dont know what else is out there. I have the stock lugs on there now, and i kind of like the silver lugs, with the polished lip. Can someone help me out with this? I want to order something soon, and just have no idea. Thanks in advanced.

I believe this is a BAD thing. Stock lugnuts on Volk rims do not match. The Volks use a lugnut with a different bevel on them. You are putting undue stress on the rims/lugs/lugnuts. Oh, and do we need to talk about centering rings? Or are you using them?

Yeah you should get rings and some tuner style lugs. (tampered/cone not acorn)

Where can i get rings from? Also, im thinking about doing the anodized red rays lugs (long style) anyone have a pic of these on a NFR, or a red car period? And how long are they? They wont stick out past the wheel correct?

You were told wrong. If you drive like a granny and never push the car, then you're probably going to be OK. But if you drive it the way it is able to be driven, those lugnuts won't do. Things will start breaking and at the very least, you will see the rim holes start to warp.
The centering rings should be bought from a dealer of Volks. You need two different sizes as the front and rear hubs on this car are different diameters. We have hubcentric rims where the weight of the car is supported by the hubs. Right now, you are running lugcentric where all the weight is supported by the lugs - not what the car was designed to do.

Auto RnD out of California is having a sale on Work lugnuts. They come in steel and aluminum. I would go that route or Spoon. Remember if you go Spoon, use a torque wrench, otherwise if you dont you will stretch/warp the threads.

Regardless of what kind of lugnuts you use, you should be using a torque wrench anyway.

This is true, but you would be surprised at all the free hand torqued lugnuts out there. I used to be one of them until my wife bought me a torque wrench.
