Default max stock tire size

Jim,

If you see this post, what is the max width tire size the stock wheel can handle. I came across this info once, but still wondering.

225/50/16F
245/45/16R - S02's are suppose to be a large or oversized 225. Is this true? The rear end seems to not want to stay back there with stock tires. No mods, except AEM CAI.

Please adivse anyone???

CMiS2K,

For S02's...I recommend staying with the oem sizes:

205/55WR16 89W
225/50WR16 92W

I dont think they even make 245/45/16 S02's any more. They have the 245/45/16 S02 Pole Position...but that is different tire altogether.

If you pick a tire other than S02...then I would apply the 245/45/16 in rear.

Phantom is correct. If you stay with the S02 the only way to go is the OE sizes of 205/55R16 and 225/50R16. If you go aftermarket then 205/55R16 and 245/45R16 would work fine on the car.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

To be clear, the OEM tires only come in the OEM sizes. They are quite different from the retail S-02s in design, compound (I think), and tread pattern.

I heartily recommend trying another high performance tire in 225/50 fronts and 245/45 rears. There is no reason to buy retail S-02s even if you can find them. I have .5 degree more negative camber in the back and the handling is IMHO superior with this combination. Balance is not an issue and probably would not be without the alignment change.
