Michelin X-Ice?
Consumer Reports rates the Michelin X-Ice tires as the best on snow and ice. Has anyone mounted these on their S2000? I'm thinking of mounting a set on AP1 wheels for an Ottawa winter and just want to check to see what the wisdom is out there about these tires.

It is not what I would run for a snow tire. The problem with a snow tire test is it is hard for all of the tires to be run in the same surface. The first tire in the test is in fluffy snow and the last is in hard packed snow. I like the Blizzaks and the Dunlop Winter Sports of all of the tires we have driven.
If I can help let me know.

Thanks for the response Jim. I suspect that the winter conditions in Ottawa are somewhat grimmer than those in South Bend. And the Consumer Reports tests are done with tires mounted on real cars driven on real surfaces, with the back tires following the front ones as you describe. They picked X-Ice. I'm not questioning your judgement, but simply picking your brain here in order to make the best decision. How would Blizzaks or the Dunlop Winter Sports do better than the X-Ice? I need something that will do in Ottawa conditions. Although the roads are cleaned in town here, they tend to be either damp or icy all winter long (that is, when they aren't covered with snow). What would the advantage of the Blizzaks or Dunlop Winter Sports be over the X-Ice in those conditions? And what would be the downside of getting X-Ices mounted on my AP1 rims in comparison?
