My quest to make them fit!
okay so I'm looking to go flush so I bought these wheels used and now I'm determined to make them fit with only minor fender mods and while running proper tire sizes.
1.) the first problem I ran into was that the center bores didn't originally fit over the front s2k hubs so I had to spend a few bucks to get the centers bored out to 70.3mm
problem, solved... onto the next problem
2.) since my s2k can only haul two of these wheels at a time, I decided to start with the fronts, 17x8 +45 and throw some 225/45/17 rubbers on there. here's where I am now...

they fit and are flush with the camber from my drop, but they do rub against the fender lining.
up next...
3.) methinks I'm going to try and trim the fender liner around the fender's lip and bending the little tabs up. if that still doesn't allow them to fit, I guess it's on to fender rolling and bumper tab relocating. after that, it's on to the backs!
stay tuned!
update 18 Jan 2012:
4.) I trimmed the fender liner up by the tabs and then bent all of the bumper tabs back. yeah, the paint cracked, but whatever.
these things fit pretty damned flush.

and this is how 225/45/17s fit on a 17x8 in case anyone was wondering. tires are Yoko S. drives

Jim has a good idea, definitely heat the paint while bending, or rolling if you get that far into it. It's also a good idea to keep an infrared or similar type thermometer on the paint while applying heat.
Subaru paint, which is surely a little different, but roughly the same ballpark, begins to have an issue above 155 degrees Fahrenheit. Just something to keep in mind.

I'm gonna take it one step at a time. If I can get away without having to roll the fenders, I will.
it looks like if I run a tad bit more camber, I can run this setup without having to roll my fenders.
the lining has to go tho...
