Default Need to get stretched tires...

I have a slight issue....

I have OZ superleggeras in 18" fitments, which are 18x8 front and 18x9 in the rear. I am currently running 225/40/18 and 255/35/18. After getting my PSS9s, on nice smooth roads, they are excellent, but on crappy NYC roads, during max compression, they rub a TINY bit. Not enough to damage anything, but enough to piss me off. I was thinking of replacing the tires with a slightly stretched sidewall, so that would buy me another 1/4" of clearance or so for the rub. Any ideas, size suggestions, etc?

Raising the car is really the LAST resort. I love the handling and stance too much.

Have you rolled your fenders?

Rubs in the rear? If so I think its probably the plastic part of the bumper that is rubbing.

As said above it would be easier to roll the Front/Rear fenders and relocate the rear bumper tab rather than moving to a smaller stretched tire size, that is if they're not already modified in this manner.

yeah dude search around on the car an find out exactly where its rubbing and fix that area, before you spend money on new tires

I'm gonna need new tires soon regardless so that's why I was thinking switching to a slightly smaller tire.

If that is the case and you don't want to do any fender work, you have two options IMO.

245/35/18 which would be .2" smaller than OEM sizing.
or
235/40/18 which would be .4" larger than OEM sizing.

It's up to you, either tire is fine on a 9" wide wheel so it would be only slightly stretched either way.

you could get an alignment with a tiny bit more camber, like .5 all around and that may alleviate the rubbing... that would be a pretty cheap option, besides raising your suspension

Keep in mind, I am running 18x9 +50 rears with 255/35/18's and I have zero rubbing issues after rolling the rears and relocating bumper tabs, I am even contemplating stepping up to a 265/35/18...

I gotta see about these bumper tabs. I don't actually know what exactly you are talking about.

The fronts, rub ONLY the fender liner, and ONLY on UNeven pavement when the wheel is turned.

As for alignment, the specs are already maxed out. I had it done by a renowed race shop, and the guy told me any more and I would be compromising handling.
