Default Need help with tires, 17" wheels

I am thinking about S-03, 205/50/17 front and 245/40/17 rear, on some 17" wheels. Does that make the car less oversteer? I wanna make it less oversteer.

Tread width front = 7.6" , rear = 9"

VS

Stock tread width front = 7.1" , rear = 8.5"

What do you guys think? Should I use 215/45/17 (tread width 8") front instead? Also, does the Rim width affect the tread width, even with the same tire? For example, 245/40/17 on a 9" rim, would the tread width be wider than the same 245/40/17 on a 8" rim?

Thanks.

With 205 245 set up your car will change very much. Maybe too much

I went 215/45 and 255/40 17 on 8" and 9"

Quite neutral unless you WANT it to oversteer - in which case it will.

So far I've been very happy.

215 245 or a 225 255 would be a good bet. Get the Toyo T1S. Great tire and one of the lightest available.

If you push the car hard to get to its limits or auto-x your car the S-03's SUCK! Keep in mind that the compounds for the rubber are WAY different and the S-03's have very wide grooves for water. I have 215/17 and 245/17 and car handled nicely. I could drift the car easily around corners but well............drifting limits were way lower IMO.

Once I hit the auto-x or track with them the first lap was the fastest and held the best...........after that they got to hot and slid.

Spring time I am looking at getting the OEM S-02's for either the Boxster or the 911. Sizes 205/17 and 255/17! Can't wait!!!!!

Hey Pinky - Please post your results on the Porsche S0-2's.

That sounds like a good combination.

So if I use 215/45/17 and 245/40/17, my car will oversteer more than yours/ or stock S2K?

I really want it to oversteer less, but I am afraid 255/40/17 would slow the car down a bit.

The new tires may have more gradual breakaway so it might be a bit more forgiving...

How's that for clearing things up?
