go with the ASA FR1's, I did here is my set up for auto-x. these wheels/tires are used just for auto-x, I just got them Friday night and tested them at a Porsche event Sat.

ASA FR1's weight/cost and a 17" that you can get 9" on the rear.
17*8F +49 offset 235/40ZR/17 yokohama A032R
17*9R +63 offset 255/40ZR/17 yokohama A032R

I would keep the tire width with in 20mm of front to back. 215 front and 255 back encourages oversteer.

larger front, like a 225 on stock wheel has improved my over steer problems I was having at auto-x on street tires.

the over all wheel diameters are tolerable vs stock.

the car seems to be more controllable going in and out of slaloms and in and out of corners. More stable grip, that may be due to the R compounds.

stocker's are wrapped in the tirerack special 2 months ago 225/50/16 AVS intermediates and 245/45/16 rear. much more over all balance. This is all in opinion based on my personal driving experience and based on my style of driving.

lig,
I love the ASA's. I am thinking about black high gloss powder coating the wheels.

I am confused here. Some people say wider rears will oversteer less, some say oversteer more.

It's simple:

Improve the grip in the back to reduce oversteer/increase understeer.
Improve the grip in the front to increase oversteer/reduce understeer.

If you increase front and rear exactly the same, you will have not changed the balance.

The best way to address oversteer, IMHO, is by putting on a larger front bar, not trying to tweek tire sizes.

I'm very happy w/ them as well... They would look pretty mean in black - serious race car kind of stuff...

Please post if you go with that powdercoat!

Thanks...

p.s. what class do the ASA's + R compounds put you in? I was thinking about R compounds on the stock wheels...

Thanks.

You can see they talk about wheel width and tread width. Tread width is the patch that actually hits the pavement. I am 99% sure I am going to go with the 205f/255r Porsche setup.

I have done a lot of looking and well.......we have limite options if we want the same grip as stock or close to it. I was looking at the G-Force KD's though after talking with another S owner that had them said that they "tramline" badly!(that is when you hit a groove in the pavement and your car takes off to one side). I have that same problems with the S-03's. I have thought about the F1's but not seen much on them yet. My farthest thought would be to do Pilot Sport RACE CUPS but that is going to be A. Expensive and B. Potentially dangerous conditions in cold and or wet. I want to keep my car as a daily driver I think this summer but we shall see.

If I make a bad choice I will probably fess up and take the hit to swap out tires to a different brand before the trial period is up........if I have that option. Hopefully that will not happen.
