Need help with wheel/tire fitment
Hello all,
I am new to the S2K world and I've spent hours trying to figure out what will and won't fit on my car, and I'm totally lost.
I have a '00 S2K AP1, completely bone stock and I intend to keep it that way, besides for changing out the wheels.
I've been using the wheel fitment guide, but I can't figure out if the guide is contingent upon 16" wheels, or any size?
I picked out a set of wheels that I think will work, but I want to make sure I'm doing this right.
What I found:
18x7.5 +45
18x8 +40
I have no clue what size tires I can fit. The car is a daily, so I want the biggest tires I can get, but I do not want to have any negative camber, or have to roll the fenders.
What's the lowest offset I can run with a set of 18s? Ideally, I would like to go 18x8 / 18x9. What size tires can I put on with these wheels?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What fits is dependent on width and offset not on diameter (ok for 17's and 18's but any bigger than that an I would say they don't fit). Diameter effects the tire size mostly. Basically if you don't want to roll the fenders or run any more camber you have to stick very close to the stock widths and offsets. So for the 18x9 and 18x8 setup the offset needs to be at +50 or higher for them to fit. Tire sizes should be 215/40/18 and 245/35/18. This is of coarse dependent on you not lowering. If you lower you will have to roll the fenders.
Thanks for the help! I understand better now. I'm beginning to realize that high offset wheels are hard to find, at least in my price range. I'm looking at wheels in the $150-$200 (each) range, with a look similar to the Enkei EKM3 look or XXR 521. Are there websites that mainly carry high offset wheels? So far I've just been searching eBay and Amazon, maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.
Tirerack, but 18" wheel selection is very limited and probably nothing in that price range. 18" wheels at stock height generally isn't a good look, it creates an optical illusion that the car is higher than it really is. This is also more pronounced when running lower offset wheels than stock.
IMO, you won't find a better looking set of wheels in that price range than OEM AP2. 17" looks perfect on the car and you can run a 225/255 combo without any fender work.

You would need a 5mm spacer to run the ap2 rears on the front. Nothing and I mean NOTHING XXR makes will fit without serious fender work. The Enkei PF01's come in a high offset. Look in the vender forum. There are some option. TSW also has a few options.
I think I'm going to just go with the AP2 wheels. But just to clarify, if I buy 4 17x8.5 wheels, all I would need is a 5mm spacer up front? Would I need to do anything with the center bore of the AP2 rears to fit up front?
And what size tires around? 245/40?

Yeah no sense in defacing a wheel when you can just run the 5mm spacer up front to clear the hub differences.
Id run 235/40-245/40 front and 255 rear if it were my car, for several reasons. 245 isnt enough for the rear of this car, and its too much up front, not only for fender fitment ease with your set up, but because the car isnt as well traction balanced with non stagger, unless you modify the suspension and down force accordingly. But hey, I guess on the street pretty much anything goes, im just an idealist in my modification/performance approach.

What's the motivation for running 8.5" all around? If by chance you find a good deal on an extra set of rears then might as well pick them up but I wouldn't go out of my way looking for them if this is a street setup.
