Default need tire selection assistance

Well, I got my silverstone 00 back in july and once spring hits, it is time for a wheel/tire package. I think I have decided on SSR professor sp1's in black w/ the polished lip.

As far as tires go, I have had s-03 pole positions on my del sol before, but those wheels I used strictly for auto-x , so i'm unsure about the tread life. I also had kuhmo ecsta 712's on the wheels i used for everyday driving. The problem is, I do a decent amount of driving being that i go to school about an hour from my parents house and about an hour from where my intern position is. I'm trying to balance tread wear with wet/dry performance.

I was thinking about just getting the kuhmo's because they are inexpensive. Just use them until they wear out and at which point I will be out of school and purchasing a sedan (G35/3.2 TL etc) to drive everyday. Then I could get better tires for the s2000. Or, tring to balance everything I want, i looked at the RE750's from bridgestone and they appear to be what I want, however I read some posts on here after searching where some loved them and some hated them.

Any opinions are welcome. thanks in advance guys

Having experience running both Bridgestone & Kuhmo......

Bridgestone SO-3 is a much better choice:

1. The SO-3 is a much quieter running tire than the Kuhmo
2. The SO-3 performs better in the rain / wet
3. The SO-3 wears better than the Kuhmo......especially the rears.
4. The SO-3 has less "Tram-Lining"......is affected less by the ruts in the roads / freeways.

Grip & Road Holding I'd say they are about the same.........

If you are looking at Kuhmo just for the Price $$$$........make sure you choose the Ectsa MX.................Not the 712. The Ecsta MX is a better tire and looks better too.

My 2 cents.............Good Luck

Better than the Kuhmo in my experience.................but I also think that tire wear also has a lot to do with individual driving style.

We have some members of the PacNW Club that have got 25K miles out of their OEM SO-2's...........but they drive very gingerly & conservative.

If you go with the value tire take a look at the Fuzion ZRI. They are at the same price as the Kumho 712 but with better handling.
If I can help let me know.
