New S03 Sidewall and PSI Question
I just got my S03's from Jim and had them mounted. My First impression is LESS ROAD NOISE. I guess that's maybe because after taking the Factory S02's off I noticed they where Slicks! I mean no pattern, 15,200mi ( that's pretty good I think!)
The second thing I noticed was that if you jerk the car from side to side I feel what I think is "Less sidewall stiffness" The back end wiggles like the sidwalls are flexing too much. Where the S02 did not do that. I noticed that the sidewalls are more ")" then "|" when mounted. I have 32psi in both rears that's what the door sill says, but these are S03 not S02 so I need some help here.
Jim said before I ordered them that they need 500mi to break in is this a part of that or the characteristic of the tire. Should I increase PSI to 37PSi the Max press is 40PSI.

The air pressure should be the same as the OE tires. As far as a break in period all tires have that. The reason the tires seem like they are flexing too much is acually the release compound on the tire tread. You are also comparing a worn out S-02 to a full tread depth S-03 that is not worn in yet. If you give the tires a little bit more time they will be fine.
The S-03 will also have better wet traction for the life of the tire.
I hope this helps.
Thank you
Jim

Gotta be honest, E. 32psi is a great pressure for a sedan, but not for a SC. Mine ran like shiite at 32, all squashy. Try 35+. Remember, these are 40+psi rated tires. Sedan tires are 35psi rated and you run them at 32. SC tires are rated higher and you should raise the psi to something that fits. Maybe 37F 35R.
Remember also that the 'door pressure' is the touring pressure... for road comfort... it is not the performance pressure.
