NEw to the "staggered" setup thing...what ever
So i have been toying with the idea of getting new rims, but as most people know the really good ones are expensive as hell and the cheap ones are well...cheap. So for the time being i'm going to stick to the stock AP2v2's that are on right now, which i think are the nicest stock wheels to come on any honda I've ever seen. Coming from a subaru and evo I've always had a square set up, so staggered never was a thought in my mind. My 06 has mismatched front and rear tires at the moment and its starting to bother me. After reading about the staggered vs. squared setup, I only came across people going with after market rims for square set ups, which render the best results for handling on and off the track.
Is it possible, (Flame suit on), to buy and mount a pair of the 17x8.5 V2 rears on the front? I know probably some fender rolling will be required, thats not my question. My question is can it be done. Is there something with the hubs that would prevent this? or the offset? I only came up with this Idea on my drive to work this morning. and plan on trying to fit the rear wheels to the front when i get home and see how it goes.
and a little extra for you guys. (I know they are both new but which do you like). These will be going on the stock rims. which would you prefer

You could run rear 8.5 all around with 245 tires and no rubbing, some track and auto-x guys do this. The hub bore is larger on the front, so you would have to bore them out from 64mm to 70mm. If this a street car only, there really isn't much upside IMO.

Its not that hard and plenty of people do it. The only trick part is finding someone local to bore the centers out.
In my opinion a 17x8.5 is too narrow as you'll most likely find that you want to run a 255/40 all around. If you want to run a square setup there are plenty of good 17x9 wheels for about $1,000 or less. I sold my OEM AP2V2s for $600 and Ive seen them sell for much more. Or you could keep them with cheap street tires and run some ZII, Rivals or other EPS tires on the 17x9s for your performance setup.
If you're going to put one of the two tires you posted on your stock wheels and daily them you should go with the ZII as its a better all around tire. The Rival is tuned specifically for dry performance.

I was thinking the ZII's also for there all around performance but damn do i like the look of the rivals, lol
Thats my argument is that for you to buy two rear V2s will be a struggle and pretty expensive. I like having at least 2 sets of wheels with tires for dry on one set and wet on the other.

Depending on what size tire you will use, you may want to consider using a spacer in the front as well. I have 17x8.5 NSX wheels on the front, they are +60 with 255/40 and I was rubbing on the inner fender. OEM S2000 rears are +65. I have since put a 3mm spacer on, I have less rubbing (not completely gone). Originally I was on Tein S-Tech springs (1 inch lower than stock).
