It'll be interesting to see if the measurements used on the new tire are as screwed up as they are on the stock SO-2's. If the new measurements are "correct" it looks like they're shifting more traction to the front (since our "225's" are more like 245+ and the 205's are narrower than that)...the opposite of what I would have expected given the 04's presumed less-specialized market.

Now those with upgraded 17" rims can actually put the "correct" sized tires on the car. Thank goodness.

Guess now I have to burn through my tires............yet again!!!!!

Now that we know what the tire will be, does anyone know what the new stock rim will look like?

The Re050's are not a new tire. I believe they come stock in the BMW Z4 and teh S55 Mercedes. Looking at the thread design and knowing its not the same as used in the Enzo, I say the tires are not as good as the S-02 for MY00-03. Honda may be catering to a broader audience (my belief) with teh 2004 S2200. So one thing I think they will do is is result the issue of very little threadlife on tires. The S2000 is notorious for low miles on teh S-02. I think that these new RE050 will be better in threadlife but worse as far as traction.

The STi gets those tires as well.

Not a bad choice at all by Honda/Bridgestone.

Hey, Jim-

I assume that you will be stocking the 17s that you are talking about.

I also noticed on your website that you have the RE-050 in 225/45-17. Why not add a 255/40/17 to give those with 17 inch rims an oversize option?

The compound looks to be the same that the S-02 has!

I would suspect that this tire will be an OE tire just like the S02 that is on the car now. Even though the name is the same they will probably be a different tire for the Honda. I don't have any specs yet from Honda or Bridgestone on the tire.
I also would not recommend to run the tire sizes they are running on the new car on the old car. The older car is set up to run a certain height tire and the new cars tires are going to be 1/3" shorter front and rear. They will fit the older car but not as good.

RE050

Clearly this does not look like the tires on the Enzo as PLYRS 3 indicated.

The UTQG rating on the RE050 is 140 A A, interesting enough the S-02 has the same rating, and because we are talking about two products made by the same company, you can actually compare UTQG ratings.

S-02

As far as looks go, I still like the S-02 better. And yes, I know looks are not all that important when it comes to tires.
