Thumbs up New wheels fitted. New height as well?

I have replaced my OEM wheels(Dunlop SP Sport 9000) with new ones on my S2000 MY2000.

I have fitted the 18" OZ Superleggera with Michelin Pilot Sport II tires.

Front:225/40/18
Rear:255/35/18

I know that these are the right offsets/specs but I want to have a professional opinion if the distance from the ground has remain the same, increased or reduced. I get the feeling that the S is sitting higher now or is it just me?

OEM tire diameter is 25.0" in the front and 24.8" in the rear when running the OEM "SO2's"

The tire sizes you have chosen are correct for the front and the rear. They are both considered a 25" nominal tire.

Check the tire specs from the Michelin website for the exact diameter....

Thanks for the reply.

I have search for the specs of my tires but I cant find them.

The only specs I have found are on tirerack. Here is the link.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.jsp?mak...Pilot+Sport+PS2

It seems like the front is 25.1" and the rear 25.2" so according to this info I have gone high to the sky!

I guess I need some new springs now, right?

Where did you get this number? I don't believe that is correct. I believe the OEM S-02's for the S2000, which are no longer listed on TireRack's site, were 24.8" front and 24.6" rear. I'm willing to wager that the fronts were never 25".

As I have suspected. The difference must be more since it is visible from the sides. I can see it also when am driving. I feel the S higher than before.

Cant believe this. What have I done to my car? I will need a lot of help guys.

Please help me here because I will have to choose a set of springs to adjust the height on my S!

Even so, there are many, many folks who ride on taller than stock tire heighth. Your speedo will be a little off, but actually rack up fewer miles(very small number). The car will be slightly slower- maybe immeasurable.

What you might also be seeing is that the gap between the fender and the tire is more noticeable now. It is because the the ratio between the gap and the size of the sidewall. The tire could be the same heighth between a 55 series and a 40 series, yet one's gap will look much bigger than the other. 18's never looked good at stock height.

Energetic......

The tires that you have chosen are the correct size. END OF STORY

The Michelin website......has the Pilot sport II at 25.1 (front) and 25.2 diameter (rear)

Link To Michelin Pilot Sport II Tire Specs

These sizes are considered a 25" nominal tire which are the correct fitment.

The reason you think that there is additional gap between the top of the tire and the fender is because by putting 18" wheel s on your car you have created that optical illision.

Example: The car is not riding any higher / lower..........the diameter in the front changed from 25.0" to 25.1".........REMEMBER that the difference is 1/10th of an inch in TOTAL.......but it is !/2 at the top of the tire and 1/2 at the bottom......your eye can not see this minor change.

What you are seeing is the ILLUSION....the tire side-wall is now smaller / lower profile than it was when you were running a 16" wheel.........this draws attention to the fender gap between the new tires (18" wheels)

The gap is now larger than the side-wall of the new tires creating a look that you don't like.......The 4x4 look

Just lower the car you'll be fine.

Wager away FF2Skip...........the information comes strait from the Bridgestone website.

Here is the link:Bridgestone Potenza SO-2 Sizes & Specifications

The sizes are listed at the top......the 1st line (front tire) listed as the "89W" in the service description column....and 25.0" diameter......in the 8th column over.

The 3rd line (rear)......service description "92W".......listed as 24.8" diameter. Those are the OEM sizes for the SO-2

If you look on the side-wall of your's you will see the markings......."89W" and "92W"

WHAT DID I WIN....??
I stand corrected. I had never seen that link, so thank you for posting. I had relied on TireRack's data. It is conceivable that it was incorrect on their site.

Nevertheless, thank you for clearing that up. I also like that the weights are listed. I have a question though. The PS2 listing from your link does not show that a 255/40/17 is available, while TireRack currently shows them as in stock. Perhaps they are discontinued. Just showing that information from different sources can conflict. In this case, I'm inclined to believe the actual manufacturer's site.

Plus, you have just help me eliminate PS2's from my tire choices. Since the fronts usually last about twice as long, I'd hate to have to replace the rears and not be able to find the same tire. Thank you.
