I can't find any 'competition' grade tires on tirerack that will fit 17" Volk CE28n. I was planning on using these wheels strictly for autocrossing. 205/50 front and 255/40 rear would be ideal, but there doesn't seem to be anything availible in these sizes. After playing with a wheel/tire size calculator, I have given up on finding tires that fit an maintain (or come close to) the stock front/rear bias.

These are the options I'm now considering:
1. Go with 'max performance' tires... either S02's or the BF Goodrich G Force KD on the Volks
for autocrossing

2. Find any 'competion grade' tires that fit, and hope that giving up the stock bias doesn't hurt
the handling too much.

3. Use the Volks as everyday wheels and use the stock wheels as my autocross wheels. But... I have
a set of HRE's coming that were going to be my daily drivers, and I don't see any reason to have 2 sets
of 'daily drivers'.

Option 1 will probably be ok... it's going to be my first year autocrossing, so I doubt the tires will make that much difference. Options 2 and 3 aren't that appealing to me, but what do I know? That's why I'm seeking advice from the far more knowledgable here

So... any and all suggestions are appreciated and welcome.

Thanks Gregg... that thread didn't show up on the searches I did, so I never would have seen it without your reference.

FWIW, I too am awaiting my CE28Ns, and I've already decided on the 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear Kumho Victoracers.

That's the route I was planning (but to this point had not made a final decision) on.

I'm also waiting for a set of the CE28n's. I see a lot of people considering 50 series for the fronts, isn't that too large and not technically a +1?

I'd like to get the Toyo RA1, but it isn't available in exactly the right sizes, they're close though.
205/40ZR17 fronts
255/40ZR17 rears

My only concern is the 40 series of the fronts, it's about 9mm shorter sidewall than a correct 45 series would be and will throw the speedo off.

Toyo RA1 Sizes
235/45ZR17, 205/40ZR17, 235/40ZR17, 255/40ZR17, 275/40ZR17

Of course the Kuhmo's are available in the perfect sizes 205/45-17 and 255/40-17. 205 does seem a bit narrow for the fronts, but that sizing maintains the same front to rear width ratio as the stock tires. The stock S02's are quite narrow up front.
