Default Non-staggered wheels with staggered tires

I was looking at a set of used slipstreams that are 17x7.5 all around
If I get those, I plan to get 225/45/17 and 255/40/17
That wouldn't be too bad right?

What tire pressure should I use?
Would I need centering rings?

TIA,
Somang

Depends on the tire. A true 225 no sweat. But the Bridgestones would be pushing it. 7.5 will work in the back, but be sure that it has a strong sidewall. The pressure will be easy, run stock and do a quick run, the wear line on the side wall will tell you how much to add or drop 2 psi at a time.

Rotas work fine, despite their detractors, but look carefully for fine cracks around the hub. I have no idea about the rings, but the front hub is much smaller than the rear in our car.

What tires would you recommend?

I was considering RE750, RE050A PP, or BFG KDW2

What do you intend to do with it?

Do you think about 32psi all around would be fine?

I would not put 255/40's on a 7.5" wide wheel.
I'd probably go 215/45-17 front, 245/40-17 rear.
Even a 245/40 is pushing it. Recommended minimum width for a 245/40 is 8". Recommended minimum width for a 255/40 is 8.5".

Actually, I'd probably only consider rear wheels at least 8" wide.

A 225/45/17 RE 050A or RE 01R is about as big as I'd go on a 7.5" I wouldn't want to run a 255 on the highway on those for sure.

But don't people run 255 on stock wheels?
Our stock wheels are 7.5" on the rear
so what's the difference?
