Jim, does your comment regarding sizes for the F1 GSD-3 apply to 17" wheels for the S2000?

I'm getting 17" Volk CE28N's ... 17x7.5 front +50 / 17x9 rear +63.

What sizes should I be looking at in an SO-3?

How does the Dunlop SP9000 compare with the SO-3 with regard to extended freeway driving ... road trips etc. ?

I think the 'correct' tire sizes for the CE28Ns are 225/45 front, 255/40 rear.

The 17" GSD-3 wopuld be fine. They just don't make the 245/45R16 for the rear on stock wheels.

Jim,

Any comments regarding a choice between the three?

GSD-3 / SO-3 / SP9000

The S03 and GSD-3 are much higher performance tires. The Dunlop is a good riding longer wearing tire but not in the same level of performance.
I like the S03 for the all around performance the best.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

Jim,

Looking at your site info, the GSD-3 seems to top all the ratings ... especially in those areas I'm interested in such as long wear, wet weather, etc. I am keeping my SO-2's on the stock rims for every day rides. I am putting these on 17" wheels for extended freeway travel (road trips) to save the wear on the SO-2's. Do you still think the SO-3's are a better choice for me?

I still feel the S03 is the better all around tire. The benefit would be with the dual layered rubber compound on the S03. You would keep the same level of performance wet and dry for the life of the tire. The difference in handling is very minimal between these tires.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

Jim,

I'm due for a new set of tires on my '02 S2000. Although I'm in the Bay Area now, there's a chance I'll be moving to Denver, which has all kinds of weather. I would also like to avoid breaking the bank.

You've mentioned the Dunlop SP9000 as a longer life alternative to the Bridgestones but, at $137 per front and $155 per rear, they don't seem cheap. They also appear to be for fair weather only.

What all season tire would you put on the S2000 if your priorities were dollar value and maximum tread life?

I'm also wondering if I could save some money by going to a lower speed rating like H or V. Are proper tires for the S2000 available at the lower ratings? Are there reasons not to do this even if I never run my car above 100 mph?

Thanks for all your expert advice on the S2000.

Dierk

The Dunlop SP5000 would be the all season tire I would recommend. They are 101.00 front and 124.00 rear with the rear tire being the 245/45R16.
They have the best fitment in the all season for the S2K.
Let me know if can help.

Here's my SP5000's

I bought the 225/50 16's rather than the 245's.

As you can tell, the front's appear to be wider than the S02's, and the rears a little narrower.
