I have some old Blitz Type 01's coming in from Japan.

17x8 +45
17x9 +45

Possible tire setup
215/45/17
235/40/17

I have heard mixed reviews on how bad they will rub. I have the old HKS springs on my car with a 1.5'' drop and Koni yellows. If I am correct, I should run Proxes T1S since they seem to give the most clearance for that size. I do not need this for any kind of track use, I have other rims for that. I also have access to a lip roller that hopefully will help too.

What do you guys think? Jim?

I just don't like the size of the tire you would have to run or the offset on the rear. I think you would have a problem.

A 9" rear wheel width at a +45 is no good.

running a 235 tire width in the rear would also put your tire size narrower than stock. Why would you wnat to do that?

These are just my street rims. I don't speed or need maximum handling capabilities on public roads. I just want a rim that is appealing and get me from point A to point B.

Hope the roads are perfectly flat in and around your home town........otherwise at every bump, dip & irregularity in the road you'll likely have rubber chunks flying off of your rear wheels...

You can dial up the neg camber and give it a try but you mention being lowered 1.5".......all bets are off with this set up.

Seems as if you are set on this configuration.........I'd like to see a few pics when you have it on the car.

My guess is the 235 tire will look fairly stretched over a 9" wheel and with your 1.5" drop you will still have clearance issues unless you dial up the neg camber......but I would like your input / comments when you get it on the car.

Here is a pic on Birdie's car and I know he was lowered more than 1.5''. Plus he didn't roll the fenders at all. He is running 215 in the front and 245 in the back.

You mention that your friends car has the "Same Offset" of +45...........does he also have the same wheel width as you are purposing of 9"........??

Well...........last question:

If you have friends running the same set-up, same wheel & tire and they are reporting to you that they have no issues with rubbing / clearance / wheel and tire fit......why did you create this thread?

Seems you already have the answer you wanted to get.

Post a few on your ride when ya get em......hope it works out well for ya.
