Buying aftermarket wheels soon but rear tires really expensive since it's going to be 255/40/17. SO3's in that size is $199 each. Kuhmo Ecsta MX is $129 each. I know you get what you pay for but in this case would I be giving up a lot in terms of performance by going with Kuhmo Ecsta MX?

The MX is the best handling bang for the buck tire I have. The S03 is a better all around tire but the MX is comparable. The S03 will have better wet traction than the MX.
In the testing that was done here the MX was better handling than the Pilot Sport and the Yokohama AVS Sport.
I don't think you would be disappointed at all.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

Now what Kumho ought to do is develop more sizes!!!
If only they had a 245/45 this would be a much better solution than the 712s...

I did ask when they were here and they didn't have that size in the mix.

Jim- Does the Kuhmo Ecsta MX 225/50/16 have the same tread width as the OEM 225/50/60's? Are they comparable tire?

I ran MX's the last 2 years. I feel that they give you 90% of the SO2's performance at about 65% of the cost. Tread life is similar.

kumho MX is the best tire i've had on my S. IMO, it's better than hankook rs2 and just as good as s02. (this is all dry traction btw)

These are good tires. I have almost 3000 miles on them and they show almost no signs of wear. I replaced my S03s with these. Great tire for the money.
