Default Options to de-chrome wheels?

Hey All,

Recently picked up a set of gently used wheels for the RL, but they are chrome. I thought I'd be able to live with the bling, but was totally wrong.

What are my choices to remove the bling?

De-chrome? Are the wheels really nickel plated? If so, and if I have them professionally dechromed, will the raw steel rust?

Will sanding the wheels give it a 'satin' appearance? How hard is this? I'd imagine a ton of elbow grease in my future..

Paint - If I (or professionally) paint these, I'd imagine I would have to sand the chrome down then paint. Wondering if the paint would easily chip.

Powdercoat - Is there any prep work necessary to have wheels powdercoated?

All I want are some simple silver wheels.. no bling, no gold, no gunmetal.. just plain jane silver. Is that too much to ask?

your best bet is to sell the wheels and buy some others that you like without chrome.

The wheels are most likely aluminum so they are not going to rust. Most chrome wheels are nickel, copper and also chrome. If the sandblasting will take it off you will be fine. Just primer, paint and clear coat them.
