paint removal
Hi all,
I just bought a set of OEM '04 rims that are painted black for very cheap (I needed a set because I have a cracked rim on my set). Whoever did it did a poor job - I can see some of it chipping in some small places - and they painted over some gum on the inside of the wheel!
I'm thinking of stripping the paint to get it back to the orig silver. After using the search engine, it seems that aircraft grade, aluminum safe paint stripper is what's supposed to be used (please correct me if I'm wrong)? Also, are there specific brands I should be using? Any specific techniques? How will it look when I'm done?
Thanks in advance!

Just go to AutoZone and buy their brand of aircraft aluminum grade paint remover. Start with the inside of one of the wheels to make sure how well it works. You can also take it to a wheel refinisher and have them strip it and refinish it with clear coat for not very much money. Just remember if you do it yourself you will need to reclear coat the wheels as the remover will strip off all finishes applied to the wheels.
