Plus sizing and Inflation
Jim, I have a question concerning the proper inflation of a plus sized tire. I checked the website but couldn't find anything about it. Should I follow the car maker's tire inflation recommendations on the door placard for everyday driving?
Thanks in advance.

al,
i think it also depends on the plus.
i'm running plus 2. at 32 psi, the car is horrible, at 34psi, it's back to "stock".
also, i don't think the placard should be followed for every tire brand - we know the OE S0-2 at 32psi is golden, but that's because the car has a specific "max performance" tire assigned to it - from the factory.
i highly doubt some "other" tire is going to be equally good at 32 (i'm not talking ultimate grip, but rather ride and handling "characteristics").
you can get "other" tires close to OE "feel", by fiddling with pressures.

But the mickeymouselins that come stock on the RSX-s are hardly worth comparing to anything thing else. The only time I can see fiddling with the pressures would be when tracking the car and the tires are going through extremes that they don't encounter on the road. I've gone from a 205/55/VR16 to a 225/45/ZR17 summer tire (+2) on a 1" wider rim also. Stock pressures seem to be best on the car, but we aren't comparing apples to apples with our two cars, either. I also like the tires a little harder when I am running with all of you on the Salamander, but when I am done I air down to stock pressures. If I don't it's like riding on hockey pucks, just like keeping my summer tires on to late into the fall and the temps are staying below 50F (10C) and the compounds harden up.
