Default Polishing

I'm rebuilding a set of ssr's I just picked up. They are pretty beat up but can buff out... I hope. I'm using blue magic metal polish for the lips and it's working great, except for some marks I still have that it won't get rid of. I'm not sure if it is extremely tarnished or if the spots are a clear coat. Does anyone have suggestions how to get rid of them? Or is it just gonna take an ass load of elbow grease? Thanks for any input!

might just have to sand it down with some high grit sandpaper.

Old finish needs to be removed, either sand or chemical stripper as it looks like old clearcoat that has baked away. Either way it'll take some good elbow grease to fix.

Ya that's what I was thinking as well. Now I just need to find a chemical stripper that is tough but won't harm the bare metal. If I can't do that, old fashioned sand paper will for sure do the trick. Thanks fir the input guys!

I repaired my curbed Volks following this thread. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/auto...ix-it-now.html

Removed the old clear. Sanded and polished with Mothers aluminum polish. Looks like new. I had to have one of my Work wheels repaired done at a shop and they pretty much did the same thing. Saved money diy. Was easy to do but time consuming doing it by hand but well worth the effort.
