Default removing old decals

I'm working on a restoration project. I'm faced with old decals that have been on the vehicle since 1991. I've tried goop disolvit and a commercial decal remover. Nothing seems to work. What does come off comes off in flakes.

Anyone have any ideas short of my grinder

Thanks

citrus degreasers (certain engine cleaners- make sure that they are citrus) would be better than a grinder!
did you try wd40?
make sure you let the stuff sit on the decal for awhile and remove slowly... reapply.
takes some time, but you should be able to get it off without damage to the car. then polish and rewax.

yea disolvit is a contractor grade citrus degreaser...didn't touch it, even with sustained application etc.

they won't peel they flake off in tiny pieces if it comes at all. I was hoping for something that will soften the sticker up so I can at least scrape it with a plastic razor blade. It's going to be resprayed white after I get them all off.

Still looking for ideas

thanks

Your best bet would be to use a heat gun. If you can't get your hands on one try a blow dryer it works on basically the same principle. As you apply the heat use a plastic razor blade to get the sticker off while it is hot.

I've had good results with 3M Adhesive Remover...but it sounds like you're gonna need more than that.
