Potenza Problem
Hey I was wondering would an S-03 work for my car, in particular as a right-rear tire? My original one was torn so I went to Costco and they didnt have any S-02's in stock or for them to order. The closest ones they had were the S-03's. So I decided to order 1 tire which set me back $190. I'm also wondering how that would affect me in the long run.. Thanks
Bad idea 6. You need to (at a bare minimum) replace them in pairs (fronts or backs).
You'll run into some handling problems; which has the potential to be very dangerous. Fronts are a little more critical. Rears will react differently and the two tires will put different loads on the limited slip diff, causing undesired stresses on driveline components - not to mention the potential for a rear tracking problem.
Put one tire on and you'll be pissing your $190 in the wind because you'll wear your tires unevenly.
Don't take this the wrong way man - but if you can't afford (or are unwilling to pay) to maintain the car properly - you should consider selling it and getting another car.
There is a reason why I don't own a Ferrari, Lambo, etc ... I siimply don't make the cash needed to own and maintain such cars. However, I can afford an S2000 and can afford to maintain it properly (and do so).
Tires are your first line of defense when it comes to safety. It's what gets you going, gets you stopped, and keeps you stuck to the ground when your pulling G's in the corners.
Tires aren't cheap, but YOUR safety is not the only thing at risk here ...

Thanks...I was pondering the same situation too. I'm hoping by the time I receive that S-03, a pair of S-02's will be in stock and available for my car. So my rationale was that I would drive that one S-03 for a brief period and then switch back to the S-02's.
p.s. I forgot to tell you guys that my tires have about 5400 miles on them. Does that change anything??

If you have 5400 miles on them, on average, the rears should be getting a bit worn. If you have a brand new SO3 on one side and a well used SO2 on the other side, you may be in for some weird (read dangerous) handling issues.
