Default question about new tires

my 06 s2k rear tires are almost gone, so im thinking about replace some new tires, i went to some shops to check the price, it's too expensive for a college student to affort two brand new bridestone(currently running on bridestone something, i dont really rmb the model, but i think those are the stock tires), cost around 200 each plus installation and balance. so im looking tires around 100 to 150 each, any suggestions? any brand? thx

Costco will hook you up cheap, buy on line, install locally but you'll probably end up with BFG's, OK not great tires. I personally don't scrimp on rubber though, I'd skip eating out if that was the only way I could afford my Star Specs which are awesome.

Sumitomo HTR ZIII are a pretty good Max Performance tire for $96 from Tire Rack. Go to website, find approved installer in your area, they will ship tires to the shop for you. Tons of test and customer survey info on a gazillion tires at the TR website. Do not buy tires blindly! Every tire maker has some good tires and some that are crap, and it's not entirely price-dependent. Must do some research first, and Tire Rack is the place to get good info.

I am a fan of both the Hancook Evo V12 (They are doing a $80 rebate right now so its a very good deal) and the Federal 595ss. Both have good wet traction and dry traction and will last you longer than the OEM tires and are well within your price range.

The federal 595 are stiffer sidewalls and handle a step up closer to what you expect to be on an S2k though, unlike the v12
