Default Question about the type...............

of gases in the tire. Is there a big difference between regular 02(oyxgen) vs nitrogen filled tires. The dealer wanted to charge me $15 to fill up my tires with nitrogen since my car is labeled to have nitrogen filled tires. I asked to fill with regular 02 but I was told that it would affect the tire and the ride. Obviously I left the dealer pissed off. What crap is this? If I recall form my science courses thru college and medical school freaking regular air is composed of about 65 to 70% nitrogen gas. Is there a real problrem mixing these two gases. Anybody else encounter this crap at the dealer.

Thanks in advance for you input and clarification

NObody fills with O2, that'd be NUTS!

Normal fill = air = 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen

As far as you're concerned, there's zero difference between a normal fill and nitrogen. Unless you're racing a lightweight formula car with big low-pressure tires, then you might want nitrogen.

He can't fill your tire with nitrogen anyway because when they mount your tire there is already air in the tire. You would have to fill it and then deflate it and fill it again to do it correctly. The advantage of nitrogen is it does not fluctuate in temp and it does not loose psi as easily.

Jim is on the money, but honestly, if you are good about checking your tire pressure, then you don't need to worry about it. The dealer was just trying to rip you off.
