Ok, so I was all dead set on a wheel/tire combination, then I got bright and started looking:

SSR Type-F
17x7.5 +48 fronts
17x8.5 +58 rears (already purchased)

I thought I was going to go with Nitto NT-05's all around, till I learned that the narrowest tread width they had for 17's was a 235 (235/40 R17). Now, I had planned on going with a 255 for the rears, but I'm guessing there is NO way a 235 can be stuffed onto a 7.5" wheel.

Any help on getting out of this? Can I go to a 8" front wheel and still have turning clearance(+35 and +45 offsets offered)? Should I just change tire brands and stick with the 7.5" front? Going off of the offset guide on this thread: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=342793 I figure that I need a +60 to be able to fit a 235 with a 8.0 wheel, which is not offered. I wouldn't mind changing brands as long as I still stick with a semi-slick style tread pateren as the car is going to be DD and tracked lightly.

You can run a 235 tire on 7.5" wheel without a problem. You may run into fender clearance issues if you are lowered, it will probably be fine if you are at stock height or running a decent amount of negative camber. If the front wheel width bothers you, I'd run 8.5" +58 all around and just stagger the tires.

Dunlop Star Specs are a good alternative if you want 225/45, 255/40 tires to fit on your original wheel sizes.

 

The problem I see with the 235/40R17 front and 255/40R17 rear is the front tire is going to be shorter than the rear by .6" and can throw off the anti lock brakes. I would just look at a different tire and stay with the 225/45R17 on the front.

Actually yeah, you can help, I don't really know what else is out there when it comes to semi-slick dd/track tires. Also, I planned on ordering the front wheels from you as I did the rears, but they're not on the site; are special orders available?
