Default Will A 18" wheel change my stock wheel diameter?

Hey guys. I am so confused. I was going to stay with 17" Volks but I can not find any that have the actual correct offsets for the S. So I found a really nice set of wheels with the PERFECT offset. 18X8 +50 fronts and 18X9 +63 rears. I need to know now honestly, does it change my overall wheel diameter as compared to my 16" stock S wheels? If so by how much? Are the 18" diamteres going to be larger or smaller than the 16? Oh ya tire sizes will be 215/40/18 fronts and 245 or 255/35/18 rears. Any info from u S pros out there are appreciated greatly. Thanks!!

First, the 17" Volk CE28N's have one of the best offset applications for a S2000. Second, the total wheel and tire diameter should be approximately the same to keep the speedometer and odometer (and probably other stuff) to stay reasonably accurate. Bigger wheel, means shorter tire sidewall to get the same overall diameter. That's the 2nd aspect ratio number in the tire spec. You can find the tire diameter specs. from the manufacturer web site or http://www.tirerack.com . I did it for you and here are the results.

OEM SO2's
205/55/16 - 25.0" diameter
225/50/16 - 24.8" diameter

Miscellaneous right sized tires
215/40/18 - 24.7" diameter
255/35/18 - 25.0" diameter

You can get the same overall diameter in 17", but it's almost impossible to get in 18". The S2000 is very sensitive to a change in gear ratio, so you will feel a decrease in acceleration if you put on bigger diameter tires.

17"

18"
