Default RE01Rs in rear with stock S02s in front

Hi Everyone,

After about 15,000 miles and my first couple track events my rear S02s are just about toast. My front S02s seem to have plenty of tread.

I'm thinking about getting some RE01Rs in the rear and keeping the stock S02s in the front until they wear out. Once they need to be replaced I'll go for RE01Rs all around.

To the degree that the RE01Rs will provide more grip than S02s, theoretically this setup should reduce oversteer, correct? Would it make the S more twitchy or harder to control at the limit? My car is bone stock. I know that this setup would not be as good as having RE01Rs on all corners, but considering cost it seems like a viable option. Is there some downside to this setup that I am missing? Has anyone tried this setup?

i would think it would just increase understeer

since your used to the SO2s up front, turn in and stability shouldnt change, i wouldnt think.

eh...sounds like you're just throwing darts at a wall.

re-01r have more grip, so yes you'll be dialing out overtseer...

i will be doing the same thing, except my front wheels will be 16" oem rears, with kosei 17 x 8 in the rear with re-01r.

There was some discussion about this last year when the RE-01R were starting to get popular. Popular consensus, then as now, is to not do it.
Just buy another set of S-02s until you are ready to replace all four, then you can go the RE-01Rs.

Popular consensus also gave us four more years of W.

I would get the RE01R's, they should be better in every respect, and cheaper too.

The RE-01R is as close to the S02 as there is for the car. I would still say that the best handling set up is the same tire on all four corners.
If I can help let me know.
