RE070
I know this could be better suited in a tire specific sub-forum, but it's kinda general. My dealer informed me my OEM 050's were running low and while we were discussing options, he mentioned these "badass" new re070s....Are these on the new GT-R? Anyway, I digress. My question is what's the treadlife on these compared to the OEM 050's? Also, he suggested increasing width to like 255 on OEM wheel......what do you guys think? Is he smoking crack or is it a good suggestion?
070's aren't new...they've been around for years. They're the OE tire on a number of cars, including WRX STi, GTR, NSX-R, and the s2000 CR.
They are very nice tires - with an uber stiff sidewall. Much shorter treadlife than the 050.

I asked this question a couple weeks ago and the concensus was The RE01Rs at 225 and 255 on stock rims (AP2 rims for me). The Tread life is similar to the 050 and the 070. They do look pretty good on the CR, but I'd worry about wet performance on the 070s. The stiffer sidewalls on the 070 would make it a better autox tire, but at the cost of ride quality. And checkout the price at tirerack before buying. I usually save money buying them online and having them installed locally.

They're the stock tires for STis and they're better performance tires than our 050s, IMO.
