Default Recommendations for a fall/winter setup?

I have a Honda Fit that I use in the nasty stuff..snow/rain, etc. My BMW 335 was all over the road on a cold wet night with the stock RE050 RFT's..I would think the S2k would be similar.

So my question is, if I am not going to be using this car in the snow, but need something in case I get caught in a rain storm on a cold day, what should I do? Get a set of 17's with some all seasons? I could get a set of snow's but I think that might be overkill for my situation...though LM25's are pretty nice. Then should I go 16's or 17's? I will be using the car year in the winter as long as it is sunny out.

Thanks,
Dave

I would say if you get ice and snow then you should go to a winter tire. That way you have the best in both conditions. If you go with a tire like the LM25 or the Dunlop winter Sport they will still handle well in the dry but they are going to be a lot better than an all season in the cold weather even on a dry day. Throw in some ice and snow and the difference will be night and day.
If I can help let me know.

Jim thanks for the clarification. Per our discussion I am going to run LM25 in 205/55 16 on stock AP1's.
