Default Rubbing with 18" TE37?

Hi, first post here.

I'm planning on getting a 00-02 S2000 shortly, and have almost decided on a Silverstone with black interior. But I'm having a lot of trouble deciding which rims to get for this. After a lot of searching and looking at photos, I think a set of gunmetal Volk TE37s will have to be my choice.

Front 18x7.5 ET48 with 215/40
Rear 18x8.5 ET50 with 245/35

Some say this will fit perfectly, others say it may rub. What do you think, considering I'm planning on an inch drop with Eibach Pros as well?

I will be pretty bummed if I'm having a set of rims sent half around the world, just to find out it rubs. And I don't need the 18" harshness/pot-hole speak

Thanks!

I have an 01 with the exact set up that you mentioned except I am runnning 225/40/18 in the front and 255/35/18 in the rear. To be quite honest, it does rub quite a bit. I have just ordered a set of 245/35/18's for the rear and a set of koni yellow shocks to help stiffen it up a liitle bit. I hope this helps you out a little. Other than the rubbing, it looks awesome!

The konis won't help you in your situation. They have less compression damping across the board than the OEM shocks. They have more rebound damping at full stiff, but more rebound will only make it worse for you.

18" te's with 225/40, and 255/35 falken's. rolled rear fenders. no rubbing whatsoever. lowered on tein flex's with about a one finger gap, (when the weather clears up a bit, i'm taking that down to no gap.)

Just roll the rear fenders and you'll be fine

You have high enough offsets with those tires at only a 1 inch drop. You wont rub bro. BTW, who is telling you this will rub? Newbies?

One inch drop is next to nothing IMO so I wouldnt even take it into consideration if it were me.

18x7.5 +48 with a 215 tire you will be fine with a one inch drop = no rubs

18x8.5 +50 with a 245/35 tire you will also be fine at a once inch drop = no rubs

Firstly; thanks to everyone who contribute in my quest for info

JsAP1: No one is "telling" me this. All the info I've gathered about this matter I've found in here, from searching and reading FAQs and stickies. Many have asked similar questions earlier, but most inquiries are not properly specified regarding setups. The ones who claim they rub may run 265s on slammed rides for all I know. This is why I'm asking specificly about this setup.

The reason for choosing the 215/245 combo is based on the very fact that some claim it may rub (like 'HI REVER'), but I'm happy to see different opinions about this when considering tire width, offsets and drop combined. I myself THINK this will work fine, but I still want feedback from good people who actually KNOW.

And again, thanks for all your insight!

Well when I post some information its not by what I think. It means I have had this setup sometime over the past 5 years of ownership and already went your route and can speak because, like I said I already had it done. I really dont listen to anyone in this forum except maybe 4 or 5 owners that I know, know what the hell they are talking about. Jim from Tire Rack is great but he will even admit he is way to conservative because he has to be.
To me this is a non issue and you already have your answer.

before i rolled my fenders, i had 255/35 kumho's on the back and i did rub on the harder hits.

the kumho's have a squarer profile than the falken's i have now, so i don't know if they would have rubbed as well.

Good! 'Cause this setup looks awesome.

Oh, and by the way, hehe... I was not insinuating that you didn't know, JsAP1, I trust your word in this matter
