Default Rubbing issue with new wheels

Hello from Singapore!
I'm new on the forum and have learned much from the discussions and experiences of other members.

I recently purchased Gramlights 57Xtreme 17x9 +40, square setup.
They are on 255/40/17 Yokohama AD08r.
I have front downforce fenders installed and my rear fenders are rolled, pulled and tab relocation done.

However, my rear tyres are rubbing quite badly against the rear fenders on compression. Is this a common problem with the fitment?
The rear alignment is on camber -3deg both sides. My mechanic adviced against running a -3.5 camber due to high tire wear.
My car is currently sitting about 1 finger width between the fenders and tires. And is not "slammed".

What would any of you suggest to solve this issue? Is raising the ride height the only solution?
I'm really troubled by the rubbing as it is eating into the pricey tires and I hard-drive the car instead of hard-park.

Thanks in advance for any advice/help!

I had a 17x9 +38 with 255/40.. My rear fenders were pulled instead of just rolled. I was around -2.7 camber, no rubbing and the tires were nearly tucking.

If I remember correctly the AD08R's have a pretty wide tread width so you could consider buying a 255 tire that isn't as wide. tirerack.com lists the actual width for each tire.

What is your rear toe set at? Check that setting and dial that back quite a bit. You should be able to do -2.5 or -3. -3.5 is not needed. The toe is what kills tires more than anything else so that is likely your problem though some pictures would help and info on where it is rubbing ie bumper, wheel arch etc. Sometimes the rear bumper needs to be trimmed a bit more so if you look at the bumper and there is paint rubbed off on the lip thats in the wheel well that is where it is rubbing. Just get a razor and a heat gun gun and trim it.

Thanks for your input guys! Everytime it rubs, it's like that feeling of someone scratching against a chalkboard with their nails.
Yup the Ad08 tread width is slightly more at 9.8" (as compared to 9.4' on an r1r) but seeing as I just got these tires, I'm not in a strong financial situation to get a new set at the moment.
I've attached some photos for a better idea..
Will have the wheels off to have a look inside the fender tmr to see where it is rubbing and will add some photos.
I believe the rear toe is at about 0.. by dialing it back, u suggest to put it at?

is the roll not aggressive enough perhaps to clear? I've seen some of the fender rolls on this site really deforming the fenders..

you might want to slightly flare the rears.

Looks like from what I can see in one of your profile shots, that your lip isnt rolled as far as it can go. A shot under the fender with the wheel off would be prefered.

thanks, will take a photo under the fender with the wheel off this weekend. any of you have any photos of how the lip looks like after an aggressive roll?

RedCelica, yea that will solve it but trying to avoid more extensive bodywork and re-spray, if possible

Also hard to tell but that doesn't look like -3 camber. If the toe is close to zero then it's fine. Take a pic of the fender lip and the inside of the bumper where it attaches to the quarter panel.
