Default Running 275 in the rear? Share your offset?

Hi,

Just curious. I have some 275's coming for the rear. I am ordering +65 on a 17X10. Was curious as to what size wheel you are using for this large sized tire. Of course I also know that the fenders will be rolled.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

According to the stickied fitment guide, you should be fine with that setup:

For the rear:
8.0" wheel: +40 offset (225 or 235 tires)
8.5" wheel: +46 offset (235 or 245 tires)
9.0" wheel: +53 offset (235, 245, or 255 tires)
9.5" wheel: +59 offset (245, 255, or 265 tires)
10.0" wheel: +65 offset (265 or 275 tires)
10.5" wheel: +72 offset (275 or 285 tires)

I guess its not a "real life answer" though.

Aren't some autocrossers running 275s on their stock wheels?

Stock AP2 rear wheels are only 17x8.5 wide. 275s are too wide to fit properly not to mention it will drastically change gearing at that size.

I hear what you are saying, but I believe several autocrossers are running 245/275 (V710s) on their stock wheels.

245 fronts on stock AP2 rims are even a further stretch since fronts are 17x7. Keep in mind stock RE050 215/40 tires are already narrower than normal sized 215/40 (see the sticky topic on top of this forum).

Once again...I understand what you are saying. However, people are still doing it.

Yes, people are doing it, and in fact it is the preferred setup for the AP2. Not only that, but race tires run very wide. So a 275 street tire on the proper width wheel with a 65 offset should fit fine.

For autocrossing, people use tires that are much wider than you'd think would work. On my AP1, I have 225s on 6.5" wheels and 265s on 7.5" wheels. It looks weird, but it works.

Exactly. If 245/275 work on the stock wheels for tracking, they should work for daily driving. It is one thing to run an oversize tire for drag racing and not being able to run the same tire for daily driving, but if the wider tire works for tracking there is no reason it shouldn't work for daily driving.
