Default S02 PP or S02 N3 er compound

Dear All,
I have read with interest all your comments and found v useful, however now have a question that I believe has not yet been asked..!

I am at the point of changing my rear stock S02 tyres and decided from the various advice to go for the S03s 245/45-16.
But...I (British) live in Germany and if you change the tyres from the size stated on the car certificate, then you are not insured. My tyre dealer will also not supply them unless I get the papaerwork changed. And for those of you not familiar with german beauraacy, it's no where near as fast and enjoyable as their autobahns.

Bearing in mind the OE S02s are fine on the front for a while yet, I see I have a choice of:
S03 PP 225/50-16
S02 PP 225/50-16
S02 225/50-16 N3 compound

In summary I understand:
- the S03 225 to have a smaller contact patch than S02 and thus not recommended if driving hard (as done)
- the S02 PP to be a mere development on S02 apart from that no great difference?,
- the S02 N3 to be a softer compound, which Porsche use as OE for 996 and Boxster as Honda do so with the S02 on the S2000.

And then when I thought it was easy, the dealer threw the new Goodyear Eagle F1 into the equation as a highly recommended tire.

Any suggestions /comments would be welcome.
(Driving style = hard in dry/corners, fast as poss on autobahns, cautious in wet, occasional track days. 8000 miles per year)

Best regards
Anthony.

Change your papers. I believe getting the Fahrzeugbrief changed isn't that difficult.

I have just imported my car from Germany to Luxembourg and had the same thing in Luxembourg. Had to pay extra to have it checked as I assume you will have to in Germany.

I have a set on 18 Oz Superleggera's With 255/35's on the rear on 225/40's on the front. Will take some pictures soon. Only had it 4 days!

SO-2 PP has wider water removal groves, thus less rubber on the ground.

S0-3 - Need to go to a 245/45R16 to stay with the same contact patch. Will still fit fine and within Bridgestone paramaters, but will not have much of a durability advantage and has less dry traction. It is a much better rain tire, though.

SO-2 N3 - ? No feedback from friends here, maybe not available in the US.
