Default Are S03's Made Out Of Butter?

...because mine melted away like you wouldn't believe.

At ~8K miles on my rears, they are SHOT... I'm talkin' cord coming through... In fact, the center section of the tread (where the aqua grooves are) is gone.

I really TRIED to take it easy with this set of tires because I had learned from the s02's that this car can go through tires.

Well, my experience with S03's leads me to believe that they do NOT last longer than S02s.

I can't wait to switch back to S02's, but until my fronts burn down a bit more I'm riding it out with 03's.

...And thanks again to Jim at TireRack for helping me get them in a hurry.

I've heard that. Seems like the S02s are the best for us Florida guys. I don't think I'm going to switch, unless I decide to run R-compounds on the street.

Hootsama:
They WILL last longer if you don't push the tires. If your hard on them like I was and like it seems you probably were. They go bye bye REAL FAST!!!!! They just sheer off when they are pushed and not grip hard like the S-02's do.

He should be OK for awhile down here in Florida. Its our dry season, until April or May. So as lot as he's aware in case there is some standing water...

It is really the car that causes the wear. The S03 on a BMW or Audi would get 20 to 30K miles. The alignment settings that Honda has on the car will wear the tires. You can lower the toe in and improve mileage some but it still won't be great.

I was swimming all over the place last summer in the wet until I put new tyres on. If you hit standing water at speed ....strap in!!!

Cheers

Take a look at the latest Car and Driver magazine under the long-term BMW M3 test.

They tried S0-3's and they wore out in the middle too.

They said their OEM Michelin pilots lasted way longer.

Because of this treadwear problem, I would definitely not buy S0-3's
