Default Serious question about wheel safety!

I purchased these and the seller did not disclose that they had a weld on one of them. I am definitely bothered by this, how safe would a welded wheel be?

I plan to return them if they are not deemed safe. If I take them to a local tire shop should they be able to tell me they are ok? I plan on getting a discount at least for my time and money involved for the inspection, etc.

much appreciate for input

I would be scared to PC a wheel that's been welded before...

got them cheap, they wont be able to be cleaned up, but will be completely refinished. I planned on getting the barrels done in gloss black, and the center in a matte satin black. new bolts of course because they look really ugly back there.

I ran this by my brother who is a master tech, he said the weld looks good and that dealers welding wheels is actually pretty common. I still plan on taking it to a shop, just not sure which one yet.

Depends on the alloy of the wheel and the weld.

If the wheel rim is a heat-treatable alloy like 6061 or 356, then it has significantly reduced strength around the weld unless they did a post-weld heat-treat (99.9% certain that they didn't).

And if the wrong filler material was used there could also be problems.

I dunno if I'd use it without knowing specifics...

ask for some money back from the guy... he should have stated that there was a weld, and if you asked if there was any damage and he replied no then he lied and you could potentially take him to court (although it probably wouldn't be worth the hassle)
