side wall size on 18's
i currently have 255-35-18 so3's in the rear, I lowered the car and it rubs so I wanted to know if I can go with 245-40-18. My ? is will the sidewall be to high? I want to say with the so3 tire and the only 245 they make is in a 40 series for an 18" rim.
Thanks,
Victor

Just to let you know...you will rub even more if you were to do that. I had wheels that didnt have very good offsets and had 40 series on front and back. For one, it messes up your handling having the same series on front and back. You need 40 series on the front and 35 in the rear. I now have new wheels with a lot better offsets and 255/35 in the rear and 225/40 in the front. It handles 100x better. So my answer is, no it wont work. What springs are you running and what are the offsets on your wheels? Maybe you should change springs or wheels because that is your problem.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info Ryan
255mm * .35 = 89.25mm = 3.51"
245mm * .40 = 98mm
245mm * .35 = 85.75mm = 3.38"
So the sidewall on the 40 series will be higher than on the 35 series. You could go with a 245/35 tire on the rear. That might be enough to fix your rubbing issues. You'll essentiall get 1/8" more clearance with the 245/35 tire.
i believe the above math is correct.

The wheels are the VOLK GT-u's 18x7f +50 off. and 18x8 rear +50 off. I was thinking about getting some new rims I like the ssr professors with a +48 off. front and the rear +62off. Right now Im lowered on the nuespeed springs on stock struts.

Dude...id just get new springs. The Neuspeeds suck IMO. I had them before I got my Tein S-Techs and the difference is night and day. Keep the 255/35 and get KG/MM supersport springs. Just a suggestion, do what you want.
