Default staggered setup on front wheel drive

I'm curious. Is there anything bad about have a staggered setup on a front wheel drive car. Lets say you put AP1's on like a civic or an accord. Would the staggered wheel setup hurt the cars stability? Would it even matter? Would the rear's stick out more than the front? I'm just curious.

I've heard some civic racers run wider in front than back. Changing the stagger of any car will effect handling. Driving style and or suspension components should be changed accordingly.

If you look at a lot of the FWD Time attack cars in Japan they use a FWD stagger(wider wheels/tires in the front) to improve handling.

^ Ya as well as the drag cars...so they can get more traction up front for accelerating. Not sure if there would be any performance benefits to other way around but it might look cooler.

people put 4 ap1 fronts on civics and integras with the 5 lug conversion. i dont believe ap1 rears will fit unless you bore out the hub.

FWD cars come with even width tires from the factory. Almost every single one of them understeers from the factory. If you fit the standard RWD stagger on a FWD car, where the fronts are narrower, it will understeer even worse!

So putting AP1 rears on the rear and ap1 fronts on the front could cause more understeer. This is on a 98 honda accord coupe.

Yikes, I thought you were talking about wider on the drive wheels. What you're thinking about is bad for handling. Personally if I had a FWD car I'd run staggered like this FD2, it should help with the understeer.
