Default Stock (factory?) alignment question

I am in the market for a used S2k, '04 and later. Last weekend I drove a car ('05) that had a noticeable but slight tendency to drift to the right at highway speeds. I mentioned this to the owner (who could not be with me in the car) afterwards and I was told that Honda aligns an S2K to slightly drift right from new for safety purposes in case the driver falls asleep.

I'm all for driving alert and avoiding oncoming traffic, so is a factory alignment such as this common? Anyone (who drives on the right hand side of a road) experienced their car from new tending to have this drift to the right?

Just had one look at this particular car so far, and was trying to understand the situation - there was some business by the left rear trunk gap that wasn't aligning properly that made me want to explore the possibility of an underlying issue with the car.

Thanks in advance!

that does not make any sense to me. I would understand going right in order to avoid oncoming traffic, but going right would also put you right into a ditch. I've never heard of a vehicle with alignment specs that are designed to pull right. Mine was aligned about 7-8 months ago, and i'm about to get it aligned again...never EVER even drifted at all. Straight as an arrow. The owner of your test drive car is full of

Yeah...that owner feed you a really smooth line! wow! Recall that the crown of the road can cause the car to pull to the right.

But don't sweat it...getting the car aligned is not a big deal.

I have had my S2000 for about 2 months brand new. It was aligned very slightly to the right. I am not positive but I think that they did this on purpose for safety reasons as you said. If you do want it to go to the right an alignment is not very expensive.

Total B.S. If the car pulls to the right, the seller will either say it's because of the road crown, or the bogus "safety" reason posted above. If it pulls to the LEFT, they'll say it's to COUNTER the road crown!

If the car pulls EITHER way, and the seller gives some lame-ass reason such as these or any other invention, you may rest assured they are full of it.
