Quick question on tie rod tightening
Hey so I my car pulls left on accel and right on decel, and my car makes random popping noises, so I popped both front wheels off and took a look at some things. Everything else seemed to be good except on the right side the tie rod had way more threads sticking out of the nut than the left side. (Sorry for my lack of terminology) So I eyed the left side and tightened the right side until it wouldn't go in anymore. Is this correct? Am I supposed to keep tightening until it hits the "end" and won't go anymore? Or should I measure both sides and make sure they're equal?
Thanks.
Thanks.
The first thing to check when the car pulls one way on acceleration and the other on deceleration is the tire pressures. Don't assume anything; take a pressure gauge to all four tires and compare to the specs in the door frame.
^done that many times already. Something is either bent or loose, but the popping sound makes me lean towards the latter.
edit: I realized that I just messed up my toe. I'll try to put it back to roughly where it was before tomorrow. I checked all the bolts on the right side of the car and they all seemed tight. Maybe it's something loose on the steering rack? How can I check the steering rack bolts/bushings? I'm not sure where it is.
