Default Te37, tyre advice

Hi all !
Before I get started , I have used the search button and I've tried my best to find the correct tyre size for my wheels and I seem to be getting nowhere.

My current set up is as follows ...
Front
17x8.5 et40 ( Avon zz3 235/45)
Rear
17x9.5 et 40 (Avon zz3 255/40)

As it stands , these tyres are way too beefy for my car , they look really out of place and I'm really not feeling them ...

Now I'm thinking I could put the 235s on the rear , then I would only need to purchase new tyres for the front ( 215s)

My main question is , what size tyres would suit the front ? 215/40 or /45
Obviously the back will be 45, so I have no idea if this will look any better ?
If you think I just need a whole set of tyres let me know your opinions and I will put the current ones up for sale as they have plenty of tread left .
I'm not looking for the hella flush look at all As I want to be able to drive the car still lol .
I don't mind a slight bit of stretch , I just want my wheels to sit nicer without driving around on balloons.

Cheers all
Elliot

215 would be quite a stretch on an 8.5" wheel, but it can be done. If I were in your position I would run 215/45 up front and 245/40 in the rear. These are the stock AP2 tire sizes.

I'd keep the current tire sizes, only thing I'd do is maybe go 235/40 up front. A vertical sidewall on your wheel widths would be 245/265 so you're already slightly less than that.

215/45 front 245/40 rear. If it still rubs add a little more negative camber.

+1 on 215/45 and 245/40. The problem with your 235/45 front is diameter, just moving it to the rear won't help in that regard.

Are your fenders rolled? Also you should run more camber. That would make the tuck into the fender wells alittle more. And make the tires look less meety.

Hi all,
Thanks for coming back to me , much appreciated .
Basically , the camber is currently set to 2.5 but it appears my alignment bolts are nearly all seized so can't really amend the camber until I get that all fixed.
Obviously this is very expensive to replace in the uk so I may not be about to amended this for a few months.
So 215/45 sounds about right for the front ,
How about 235/40 for the rear ? Or would that be a bit too much stretch?
I guess it could also be the fact that Avons are generally chunky tyres anyway ?
Cheers

I have the exact same width/offset TE37s for my FD, with 255/40 fronts and 265/40 rears Better fit on the FD, on an S2k I'd want a lot more offset...

I'd try 245/40-17 rear, with either 235/40-17 or 215/40-17 fronts. 215/45-17 is only recommended up to 8" widths (vs. 8.5" for 215/40).

If those Avon tires come in 225/40-17, I'd definitely go with that size for the fronts. Here in the states, no street tires come in that size.

Yeah man to be honest they are not the best offset/width for the s2k, but they are pretty dam rare over here, especially in mag blue, and i got them at an absolute bargain price so I couldn't turn them down!
What brand tyres are you running at the mo? Would you recommend any that are slightly smaller than my chunky ass Avons.
I think I'm going to just keep the current ones for next winter , I'm looking to buy 4 new tyres this week! Just want to make sure I get it right
