Default time for new tires - more predictable tire out there?

Hi everybody,

I'm at about 8500 miles, and my rears (no burnouts, no track time) are just about at the wear line. Fronts still look good, but with the stock tires I've had some scary moments, in the dry with the back end breaking loose. I drive hard, but not hard enough (IMHO) to lose the back end like that.

Anyone have a suggestion for a good replacement tire that is either more predictable all around, or one that is a better rain tire? With the current setup, the characteristics I get in the dry make this downright SCARY in the wet! I love this car, but I don't want to die for (or in) it!!!!!

thanks!

I think the S03 will be more predictable with much better wet traction. It won't have quite the dry handling at the limits of the S02.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

nothing much to say yet.

Great, prompt shipping from Tire Rack - A+ for that...

I only changed out my rears, the fronts have 1/2 the tread left on 'em.

haven't pushed the car too hard since mounting them, and most importantly (For me), no rain to test the wet-weather characteristics. Otherwise the ride quality seems a little better than the SO2's, and what I've pushed the car to (maybe 5-10ths?), the tires haven't even hinted at losing adhesion.

More as I push them through their paces...
