Give the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's a try. I am about to put them on my 18" BBS wheels soon. Getting them a little cheaper than a set of SO3's.
Read many of the reviews on tirerack and you'll see that it is quite comparable to the SO3's while many of the reviewers actually say it's better.

PS2's are supposed to ride smoother and have slightly better treadwear (hopefully)
I now have the Michelin PS2's on and for now they are great. An extremely smooth and quiet ride and from what I can tell it handles excellent. Haven't pushed it real hard yet, but it feels great.
