Yeah I figure I can break them in now during the nice time of year and in the winter store them and run the 595ss during that time. I don't drive the car all that much during the winter anyways.

Sounds like a pretty safe bet, I imagine you will love these new tires, especially coming from your federals.

I also need tires so I find this thread very timely. It's interesting how no one recommended the OE tires for the S2Ki (i.e. the Bridgestone Potenza S-02A). Perhaps it's because they're relatively expensive, plus some reviews indicate they wear out quickly and they don't perform well in the rain.

Conventional wisdom says "You get what you pay for" but there seem to be countless positive reviews for the less expensive tires on tirerack.com. Personally, I am leaning towards the Pilot® Sport A/S 3 since the last pair of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus performed well for me. (However, they're no longer made.)

No one recommends the OEM tires because there are cheaper alternatives that provide better performance.

Figured I would give an update on the tires since yesterday i went on a 370ish mile drive with a few other s2000's. The tires feel amazing. They are actually very quite (well I have a berk header back so maybe they are louder and I can't hear them) and they were actually quite comfortable. I can tell they are stiffer than previous tires I have had but they felt very direct and very grippy. There was a bit of water on the ground but it didn't seem to hurt their performance. Overall I am very happy with these and will report back as they continue to wear.
